Margaret River is located in the beautiful South West region of Western Australia. It is located 272 kilometres south of Perth, city. Situated just three hours drive from Perth the region offers a huge selection of world-class wineries, gourmet food and boutique accommodation making it a perfect destination for a romantic weekend or short break.
There are two main highways that can be taken to arrive at Margaret River. The quickest and most direct route can deliver you here in three hours this is the Kwinana Freeway, by far the most popular option taking this route will deliver you southwards through Rockingham and then onto Mandurah, Bunbury, Busselton, Cowaramup, Margaret River.
The alternative highway is the inland route which is a little slower getting here but quite scenic. This highway is known as the South Western Highway. The South Western Highway guides you inland from the suburb of Armadale, Pinjarra, Waroona, Harvey, Brunswick Junction and on into Bunbury then Busselton, Cowaramup and through to Margaret River.
Follow Kwinana Freeway (National Route 1- State Route 2). Take it all the way down to the end of the freeway which becomes Safety Bay Road. Follow Safety Bay Road to the intersection of Ennis Avenue (National Route 1) turn left onto this road. Continue through to Mandurah, National Route One now becomes Old Coast Road. Continue on Old Coast Road all the way to Bunbury. At main roundabout which you will arrive at follow signs to the left, onto Robertson Drive (State Route Ten). At the next roundabout you will reach turn left again onto Bussell Highway (State Route Ten) continue to Busselton. At the roundabout in Busselton turn left onto Busselton Bypass (you are now in the Margaret River Wine Region) at the end of the bypass turn left again at roundabout onto Bussell Highway (State Route Ten), continue through Cowaramup town site and onto Margaret River.
Bus Services between Perth city and Margaret River operate daily.
Southwest Coachlines operate a daily service 7 days a week departing the city at 1.15pm from Mounts Bay Bus Terminal. An extra service from the city is available on weekends, public holidays and school holidays. This service departs at 8.45am.
